DAVAO CITY — The suspect in the killing of a Davao Occidental provincial prosecutor has been arrested shortly after the incident took place Monday afternoon in Digos City, Davao del Sur.

Digos City Police identified the victim as prosecutor Eleanor Polancos de la Peña, 54, and a resident of Tienda, Barangay Aplaya, Digos City.The police identified the suspect as 56-year old Arnel Galot de la Peña, the half-brother of the victim and a resident of Purok 3, Talas, Sulop, Davao del Sur.The victim was shot inside her vehicle at around 5 p.m. while on her way home.

During the arrest, the suspect was described as wearing a black helmet, blue hooded jacket, blue jeans and riding a motorcycle, the same description given by the witnesses.The police were able to recover from suspect's possession ten 12-gauge shotgun shells, 27 live rounds of 5.56 mm, an M16 rifle magazine, and two cellular phones.The police said the possible motive for the killing is a land property conflict.The suspect is currently in police custody, awaiting inquest proceedings.
