FOUR provinces in Mindanao were placed under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 on Friday, February 19, 2021, as weather system “Auring" intensified into a severe tropical storm.

Under TCWS no. 1 are Davao Oriental; the eastern portion of Davao de Oro, including Pantukan, Maragusan, New Bataan, Compostela and Monkayo; the eastern section of Agusan del Sur, including Sibagat, Bayugan City, Prosperidad, Talacogon, San Francisco, Rosario, Bunawan, Santa Josefa, and Trento; and Surigao del Sur.

In its latest bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said 30 to 60 kilometer per hour winds are expected within 36 hours in these areas. The weather bureau said Caraga, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, and Davao del Norte will experience light to moderate with at times heavy rainshowers from Friday through Saturday afternoon.Moderate to heavy with at times intense rains will be experienced over Eastern Visayas, Misamis Oriental, Camiguin, Bukidnon, Davao del Norte, Davao Oriental, and Davao de Oro.
