Storm ‘Pepito’ to cross Northern, Central Luzon tonight

Tropical storm “Pepito” is approaching Aurora province and forecast to cross Northern and Central Luzon tonight, Oct. 20, bringing stormy weather along its path through Wednesday, Oct. 21.

Even before its landfall, “Pepito” continued to slightly intensify with maximum sustained winds of 75 kph and gustiness of up to 90 kph. Expect moderate to heavy rains to prevail across Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, Aurora, Bulacan, Pampanga, Bataan, Zambales, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan, Camarines Norte, Quezon, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Isabela, mainland Cagayan, La Union, Pangasinan, and Benguet.

The weather bureau warned of possible flooding or rain-induced landslides during heavy or prolonged rainfall especially in areas that are highly susceptible to these hazards. Likewise, the seaboards of areas under Signal Nos. 1 and 2 will be rough to very rough, with waves reaching up to 2.5 to 4.5 meters. Meanwhile, moderate to rough seas with waves that may reach 1.5 to 3.0 meters will will prevail over the western and eastern seaboards of Southern Luzon and the eastern seaboards of Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and Davao Region.
