An unidentified gunman shot dead a Sri Lankan businessman along a busy street here Thursday afternoon, police said.

Capt. Kenneth Rosales, Cotabato City police station 1 commander, identified the victim Mohamed Rifard Mohamed Siddeek, 46, of Barangay Semba, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao. Col. Querubin Manalang Jr., Cotabato City police chief, said a manhunt operation is ongoing as of posting. Rosales said Siddeek just got off from his white minivan on Don Rufino Alonzo Avenue in Barangay Poblacion Mother when a man approached him and opened fire.Police found empty shells for cal.45 pistol at the scene.
