THE southwest monsoon or 'habagat' has returned even as one of the two low pressure areas (LPAs) that dumped heavy rains on Saturday has dissipated, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

Weather specialist Daniel James Villamil said the other LPA remains although it was already outside PAR and there was little chance for it to transform into a tropical depression.'However, its trough along with habagat is affecting Visayas and Luzon including Metro Manila,' Villamil said.

With the southwest monsoon recurring, the weather agency said the inter-tropical convergence zone, which also brought rains in most parts of the country in the last few days, has disappeared. The southwest monsoon will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms in Mindanao in the next 24 hours, Pagasa said.
