This was Senate President Vicente Sotto III’s unsolicited advice to Vice President Leni Robredo on Monday as he maintained that all the laws and resources necessary to fight illegal drugs are adequate and just need to be effectively enforced.Sotto reiterated that an effective implementation of the country’s anti-drug laws, specifically on reducing the demand for illegal drugs, will address the lingering illegal drug problem.
“All laws pertaining to Demand Reduction Strategy which includes Rehabilitation and Prevention are in place. It’s a matter of effective implementation. I have been saying that for ages,” Sotto said in a text message to the Manila Bulletin. Sotto cited the bills filed in the Senate seeking to help the government’s campaign against drugs by strengthening the rehabilitation programs.
