Calls from members of the House of Representatives to defer the reopening of classes until the availability of a vaccine for COVID-19 are growing louder, as the safety of students in the normal school setting remains the biggest concern for the policymakers.
The Department of Education has set the reopening of classes, particularly for school year 2020 to 21, on August 24 despite the ongoing pandemic. This is to comply with Republic Act No.7977, which says that the given school year “shall start on the first Monday of June but not later than the last day of August.”
Science and pharmaceutical experts the world over are racing to develop both a vaccine and a cure for the acute respiratory ailment known as COVID-19, which has infected over 5.2 million people and killed more than 340,000. Earlier, Deputy Speaker and Pampanga 3rd district Rep. Aurelio “Dong” Gonzales Jr. batted for a “no vaccine, no classes” policy through House Resolution No. 876.
Although DepEd is encouraging distance learning through the Internet at the start of the school calendar, Gonzales this is not possible in the provinces where telecommunications signals are weak. “With the growing COVID-19 threat still present and imminent to the safety of our citizens, especially our children, it is imperative that we take all precautions and preventive actions to protect our people from the disease,” he said.
When class will be opened after a year or 2 years, my opinion, a new breed of generations will emerge, more disciplined kids, magaling na sa Home Economics, at mas may respeto sa nkakatanda, happy na ang mga teachers 😊
King ina nyo, wag nyong takutin ang tao, ang gusto nyo lang kase puro tongpats kaya gusto nyo maextend ng maextend para pahat ng appropriation ay related sa covid para may tongpats na naman kayo mga ungas,
