The opposition lawmaker said he is counting on that the bicameral conference panel will be able to address the budget cuts in key implementing agencies, such as the Department of Health , Department of Education , and Department of Social Welfare and Development before it transmits the spending measure to the Chief Executive on or before Dec. 31.
He welcomed the House of Representatives’ passage of the General Appropriations Bill on third and final reading Friday night under the leadership of Speaker Lord Allan Velasco. After four days of marathon deliberations, the House, voting 275-6 with no abstention, approved the House Bill No. 7727 or the 2021 GAB.
“We are certain now that we won’t be operating on a reenacted budget in 2021. Otherwise, we would be in a quandary as the same would not be responsive to the demands to curb the pandemic and mitigate its harsh impact on the country,” he said.
