Bureau of Immigration (BI) officers at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) intercepted six overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who attempted to leave as tourists using fake documents.

BI port operations Chief Grifton Medina said the six female passengers were intercepted during separate incidents last Saturday and Sunday by members of the BI’s travel control and control enforcement unit .

They also admitted paying more than half a million pesos to their recruiters in return for processing their travel documents. He lamented that despite the BI’s warnings, illegal recruiters still resort to the scheme without regard to the plight of the victims who will suffer most if they are caught.
