Sinovac remains effective in preventing severe COVID-19 symptoms or virus-related deaths, the Department of Health said Friday, as officials sought to allay public fears of the jab's supposed inefficiency.

"Let's get the vaccine. Let us not be doubtful. Let's give that confidence," DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire told reporters, as she responded to queries about Indonesia, where 350 fully vaccinated health workers still contracted the disease.

While 350 vaccinated medical workers in Indonesia caught COVID-19, the number could still be insignificant, said Vergeire. If Indonesia has 5,000 health workers, then 350 is just 7 percent, so the Sinovac jab is still 93 percent effective, she said. Vaccine manufacturers have yet to submit data on the effectiveness of their jabs against new COVID-19 variants, that are known to be more contagious than the original strain, Vergeire said.So far, the "overall percentage for adverse events" in the Philippines remain at 0.68 percent, the DOH official said.

tracing the raw material of said vaccine should be tantamount to tracking any purpose with the virus. was it meant to overwhelm the christian hongkong people? there was info that 50 thousand tons of brown sugar were smuggled from brazil at the height of the pandemic

Get another brand for booster

They are very clear about this when u get vaccinated with ANY vaccine. The vaccine is NOT A CURE. You can still get the virus. The only difference is, you will not die if you do. So same protocols should be practiced.

I blame media for fear in people not wanting to get vaccinated. You already run a news scaring people yesterday.

Ang magsabi ulit 'di nila kasalanan mga variants na lumalabas' sana mag ka covid-19

Mga hinayupak kayo! Ipilit nyo pa yang galingChina. Me karma, lalo aa mga susunod ne henerasyon. Lalo sa kabilang buhay.

DOH Vergeire says- 'If Indonesia has 5,000 health workers, then 350 is just 7 percent, so the Sinovac jab is still 93 percent effective.' So if 5M is vaccinated & 350,000 still gets infected, can you still consider Sinovac as effective?

Happy Birthday Dr. Jose Rizal! 🇵🇭
