Senate seeks to grant PH President special power to expedite issuance of permits

Senate President Vicente Sotto III, President Pro Tempore Ralph Recto, Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri, Minority Leader Frankin Drilon and Sen. Panfilo Lacson filed on Tuesday Senate Bill No.1844, which seeks to authorize the President, during a national emergency to further streamline process for issuance of national and local permits, licenses and certifications.

The measure was in response to President Duterte’s appeal to Congress to craft a law that would further ease applications and transactions in government to help in stimulating the economy amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
