The Senate on Tuesday paid tribute to Philippine surfer Roger Casogay for the heroism and bravery he displayed when rescuing an Indonesian competitor during the surfing competition of the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in San Juan, la Union last Dec. 6.

In his resolution, Go said Casogay, who is from La Union, proved that there is more to life than a medal of gold when his Indonesian competitor got swept from his surfboard and was tossed by rolling waves in the middle of the men’s longboard competition. In an interview at the Senate corridor before the Go and Binay resolutions were taken up, Casogay clarified details of the incident, saying he was not in the process of saving the Indonesian athlete when he helped him.
