A Senate bill seeks to provide work-from-home employees, both in the public and private sectors, a monthly allowance of ₱1,000 to compensate for the additional costs of utilities while telecommuting

A bill was filed at the Senate seeking to provide work-from-home employees, both in the public and private sectors, a monthly allowance of ₱1,000 to help compensate for additional utility expenses while telecommuting.

Senators Francis Tolentino and Ronald Dela Rosa filed on Monday Senate Bill 1684 which would amend RA 11165 or the“Working from home tends to increase utility consumption, particularly electricity...Some workers even purchase their own equipment for working at home. These additional expenses are out of the employee’s own pockets and for the benefit of the employer’s business,” read the bill.Under the proposed measure, the monthly allowance should be deductible for income tax purposes.

Further, the bill does not prohibit employers or the collective bargaining agreement from providing terms more favorable than the said rate.

WFH din ang mga trolls. Lol!

can you also provide work?

This is so true. And mas nakakapagod ang wfh. Anytime dapat online ka kasi kapag di ka nakasagot kagad sa email pwede kang itag as absent 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

Ay gusto ko tooo

this allowance is like bribing the people with their own money. furthermore, the two senators should understand the current economic and fiscal situation of the country. please senatePH, allocate our strained resources towards economic recovery; please think bigger and better.

Saan na naman kukuha ng pondo lalo nakatipid nmn sa pamasahe ang mga employee 🤷‍♀️ Musta na universal healthcare may kuhanan na ba pondo ?

Aside from the allowance, it should be tax free.

Not all work could be done at home. Thousands of thousands are not working since March 16 with works they can only perform at worlplace. Seems like you are not aware of them.

uy....kaching kaching. daming magiging ghost employees nyan sa gobyerno

Uy, okay to. Pero, saan kaya manggagaling ang 1,000 pesos na allowance? Akala ko wala nang pera ang gobyerno, tapos marami-rami na ding mga kompanya ang nagsasara o di kaya ay nagre-retrench 🤔

Francis Tolentino on Sunday said tax incentives should be given to companies who allow their employees to work from home to help them cover the cost of electricity and Internet connection.
