The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters is to craft a plan on sampling those linked to facilities deemed vulnerable to the virus, such as nursing homes and medical centers, on top of those in marginalized communities, including unregistered foreign residents and migrant workers who lack access to virus testing.
According to the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there were 178 confirmed cases of the virus among foreigners staying here legitimately. It did not provide an estimate of illegal residents or migrant workers who had caught the virus. As of 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, nine people were officially sickened by COVID-19, bringing the total number of cases to date to 10,683, according to the KCDC. One patient died, putting the death toll at 237. Five of the new patients were from overseas.
