“It was also sold to me by a friend since I had a hard time looking for cheaper ones,” said Benitez in Cebuano. This is to give operators, drivers, and conductors more time to purchase the air purifiers, according to Quijano. But the provincial government’s decision to require air purifiers drew flak among netizens, and transport groups such as PISTON-Cebu.

“The DOH does not recommend these air purifiers, itong mga necklace na purifiers. Sinabi na natin dati yan na wala yang ebidensya,” said Health Usec. Ma. Rosario Vergeire during a virtual briefer on Monday. Loreche pointed out that while air purifiers can be considered as ‘enhancements’ against COVID-19, however, these should not be treated as alternatives in preventing the spread of the virus.

Cebu drivers call air purifier requirement a 'band-aid solution'Personal air purifiers retail for about P200 and above. The average driver in Cebu makes only about P300-500 per day. Is that even based on science? What’s the evidence that it works against covid-19? Gwen Garcia should give it for free to the drivers. It's not even scientifically proven that it works! Pathetic governor! I wonder if there’s any proven/documented evidence that personal Air Purifiers are effective to combat Covid-19.
