The Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday (June 25) required the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) to answer the three petitions that challenged the ban on provincial buses from plying along Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA).

It was not known immediately if the plea for a temporary restraining order against the ban was denied, or if it will be tackled once MMDA’s answer is filed.

The regulation proposed to move the loading and unloading zones of the provincial buses to the integrated terminal in Sta. Rosa in Laguna for those coming from the south, and to the terminal in Valenzuela City for those coming from the north. The three petitions claimed that MMDA “exceeded its powers” when it issued the regulation “because it does not possess legislative nor police powers.”
