The tourist town of Sagada in Mountain Province on Sunday, August 9, recorded its first COVID-19 case, possibly caused by local transmission.

The resident, a 29-year-old male, is said to be a frontliner with no history of local travel, but is one of those manning the borders.Pooten said no one will be allowed to enter or exit the municipality on Monday, August 10. The 3 COVID-19 monitoring hubs in Pegeo, Taccong, and Payag-eo will also be closed for disinfection. A monitoring hub will be set up in the Danom area for contact tracing.The other one is also a frontliner, a 29-year-old policeman from Bontoc. He was previously assigned in Metro Manila, but was reassigned back to Bontoc by way of Camp Dangwa in Benguet.

He arrived in Bontoc last July 30 and was tested for the coronavirus. He is also asymptomatic and is now isolated.With Sagada logging its first case, only the towns of Sadanga, Barlig, Bauko, and Sadanga remain coronavirus-free in Mountain Province.
