Marawi siege survivors face a new battle: COVID19 pandemic

Tatlong taon mula nang sumiklab ang limang-buwang giyera sa Marawi City, Lanao del Sur, pinapangambahan ng ilan ang kawalan umano ng maayos na tirahan ng mga survivor ng siege, na dinagdagan pa ng banta ng coronavirus disease 2019 .

Pinakaapektado​ aniya dito ang mga bata na karamihan ay dumaranas na ng malnutrisyon at iba pang sakit dahil sa kakulangan ng healthcare at food supplies. Kamakailan, namahagi ang Save the Children ng handwashing facilities sa mga checkpoint at quarantine area sa Marawi. Inabutan din ng grupo ng hygiene kits at school supplies ang mga bata, habang binigyan naman ng food packs ang mga medical frontliner sa siyudad. "We are harnessing resources, local and foreign, to ensure that the affected people of Marawi are never forgotten," ani Edwin Horca, pinuno ng Save the Children Philippines sa Bangsamoro Autonomous Region for Muslim Mindanao.

Sa tantiya ng Liberal Party, ang partido ni Robredo, nasa 80,000 ang bilang ng mga apektadong residente. Iginiit naman ni Bangsamoro Transition Authority Parliament Member Zia Alonto Adiong na doble-trabaho ang pamahalaan ngayon dahil bukod sa Marawi rehabilitation, abala rin ito sa pagtugon sa pandemyang dulot ng coronavirus disease 2019.
