MALACAÑANG accepted Friday, February 18, 2022, the resignation of Roy Cimatu as secretary of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources .In a letter signed by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea and released to media Friday, February 18, the Malacañang said Cimatu's resignation is"effective immediately."
DENR Undersecretary Jim Sampulna has been designated as officer-in-charge of the department, said acting presidential spokesperson Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles. He was appointed as the Armed Forces of the Philippines chief of staff in May 2002 by then President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. He retired from the service in September of the said year.
