ROUNDUP: News in and around Metro Manila (Sept. 9, 2019)

A traffic enforcer was arrested for allegedly extorting from a motorist in Pasig City, last Sunday.

Reyes was caught in the act of receiving the marked money from the unnamed complainant around 6:00 p.m. Sunday along Ortigas Avenue Extension, Barangay Ugong, Pasig City.The traffic enforcer allegedly asked for P2,000 from the victim but the latter was able to give only P 1,400 since the amount being asked was not given in full. The suspect enforcer allegedly confiscated the cellphone of the victim and even asked for P500.00 in exchange for the confiscated cellphone.

The suspect is now detained at the Pasig City Custodial Facility while facing charges of robbery/ extortion.Police seized about P38,000 worth of suspected dried marijuana leaves from an alleged drug peddler in Pasig City over the weekend. Investigation showed that anti-narcotics police conducted a buy-bust operation against Malaluan on R. Cruz Street in Barangay Pinagbuhatan at around 8 p.m. Saturday.
