ROUNDUP: News in and around Metro Manila (Sept. 6, 2019)

A police patrolman was killed in an ambush while on his way to fetch his children from school in Quezon City Thursday afternoon.

According to a witness, two motorcycle-riding men, both wearing helmet, appeared on the side of the victim and repeatedly shot him at close range.Recovered from the crime scene were seven .45 caliber bullet casings and some bullet fragments. Further investigation is now ongoing to identify and arrest the gunmen and to establish their motive behind the incident.A 50-year old man was arrested by police after he allegedly extorted P11,000 cash from an incoming Grade 11 student at the Universidad de Manila .
