Inihayag ni Speaker Martin Romualdez na aamyendahan ng Kamara de Representantes ang Rice Tariffication law para payagan ang National Food Authority na magbenta muli ng murang bigas.
Sa halip, inatasan ng RTL ang NFA na sa mga lokal na magsasaka bumili ng bigas, na ilalagay naman sa imbakan upang matiyak na hindi kakapusin sa supply ng bigas ang bansa, lalo na sa panahon ng kalamidad. “Tina-target natin na by June, iyong presyo ng bigas will be down by P10 to P15 per kilo....close to P40 per kilo by having the NFA bring to the market the affordable rice,” dagdag ni Romualdez.“We call on our friends in the Senate to make this measure an urgent matter and make the coordination with the Office of the President to bring down the rice prices. Ito ang gusto ng Presidente,” dagdag ng lider ng Kamara.
