Vice President Leni Robredo wants a retooling of ‘Oplan Tokhang’ in order to erase the negative perception that the main anti-illegal drugs strategy of the Philippine National Police has been all about killing of drug suspects, particularly the poor ones.Lt. Gen. Archie Gamboa, PNP officer-in-charge, said that the challenge now is to come up with strategies and implementation in order to bring back the real meaning of ‘Tokhang’.
Gamboa, along with two top officials and other representatives of government law enforcement agencies dealing with illegal drugs campaign, met with Robredo on Thursday in her capacity as co-chairperson of the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs . During the meeting, Gamboa said that they were able to present to Robredo the law enforcement strategies and programs of the PNP the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency .
