Vice President and presidential aspirant Leni Robredo said if she wins the presidency next year, she will carry on with the current administration’s massive infrastructure program but it will have to directly impact the lives of the marginalized sector.Robredo during a press briefing in Sorsogon on Friday, Oct. 29, reaffirmed that her priority programs greatly revolve on the efforts to help alleviate poverty in the country.
“Para kasi sa akin, no amount of success—iyong magagandang edifice, magagandang mga infrastructure projects, iyong pagtaas ng income ng mamamayan, hindi siya sapat kung marami pa rin iyong naiiwan sa laylayan ,” Robredo said. These infrastructure projects that can potentially help alleviate poverty include farm-to-market roads, cold storage facilities, and solar dryers for farmers.

Infrastructures are investments. Ease of transport means better logistics for the market, better trade overall. More trade, means more money circulating, means more taxes. And taxes means fuel for the government services and more projects.

Building new roads and infrastructure is good. It helps the working class improve their travel time to work. Easier to transport prime commodities therefore cheaper cost, mas affordable ang bilihin para sa middle class at nasa laylayan.

Building all the infra using locals is a good idea provided the education is given to them. Otherwise, aside from only 35-40% funding (cause rest is corruption), if they use unskilled labour, all infra peojects will be substandard. She has personal experience in the matter.
