A high rise residential building that will shelter homeless families in the City of Manila will be constructed in Vitas, Tondo.

Manila 1st District Rep. Manny Lopez led the groundbreaking ceremony of the Vitas High Rise Residential Building along Mel Lopez Boulevard in Tondo, Manila on Thursday, Feb. 25.The first phase will cover 9,183.56 sq. m. and will have three 19-story housing buildings that can accommodate 770 residential units.

Lopez said the residential project will not only elevate the quality of living of poor families in Manila, it will also provide employment opportunities to residents of the city. “This project will provide employment to Tondo residents who can be part of the construction. This is a great start in our efforts to rise again from the economic crisis brought by the pandemic,” he said in a statement.

“Here in Tondo, which is the unfortunate symbol of poverty in Manila, we will rise as one with comfortable living. This is my dream for the residents of Tondo. And while we do the construction and on-site housing, I am also focusing on the cash rental subsidy for our Manila residents,” he added.
