Department of Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin C. Remulla on Monday, July 18, bared his plans to transfer to the Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm in Occidental Mindoro the persons deprived of liberty at the maximum-security compound of the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City.“Tiningnan ko ang Sablayan. Marahil angkop ito sapagkat sa kanyang lokasyon, sa kanyang layo, sa laki ng lupa ,” Remulla said during his visit at the Bureau of Corrections headquarters at the NBP compound.
Prior his assumption as justice secretary, Remulla said he had visited the SPPF as a possible venue where inmates of NBP’s maximum- security compound could be transferred. “Marahil talagang panahon na ilayo talaga ang maximum security upang ito ay hindi na pagpiyestahan ng mga marami pang maiitim ang balak ,” he said.
