It’s our fault, really. We got so excited at thethat we got deflated by this piece of news. Remember that “thing” that VW was teasing? It’s nothing more than just new colors for its T-Cross sub-compact SUV.
Like the punchline to a bad joke, the 2023 T-Cross comes in three new colors: Makena Turquoise, Pure White, and Moonstone Gray—the colors you see in the badly photoshopped photo you see above by yours truly, stitching together three low-res photos the company sent over . Anyway, these three colors join up with the current palette: Syringa Violet, Tribu Yellow, and Romance Red for, as Volkswagen calls it, “identity.
New colors aside, the 2023 T-Cross is exactly as it was before. No turbocharged engine. No special decals. No nothing. Heck, even China got a special racy version. For the Philippine market though, it’s just a fresh choice of colors for those who’re tired of the same one thing. This means, the T-Cross 180 MPI SE AT—as the variant’s known—packs the same normally aspirated 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine making 113 horsepower and 145 Nm of torque mated to the same 6-speed automatic.
The sole T-Cross variant now has a suggested retail price of P 1.340-million, but given how things go over there, maybe wait six months for some hefty discounts.
