CEBU CITY - The hard lockdown in certain areas in Cebu City has been lifted, based on a resolution of the Regional Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Infectious diseases.
The strict measure, imposed since April and May to contain the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 , is eased in Sitio Zapatera in Barangay Luz; Sitio Gonzalo in Barangay Tejero; Sitio Alaska in Barangay Mambaling; Sitio Callejon in Barangay Labangon; and, the entire Barangay Bacayan. The Cebu City government and the Philippine National Police recommended the lifting of the hard lockdown since no new cases and many recoveries have been reported.
Police Regional Office 7 Director Ignatius Ferro said he could recommend that Cebu City be placed under general community quarantine, noting that the people have already understood the quarantine protocols.The Cebu City Health Department is yet to give the updated list of areas recommended for granular lockdown if the city shifts to GCQ.
Based on the latest Department of Health Region 7 bulletin, there are more than 7,500 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Cebu City, of which 3,338 are active.New quarantine classifications in the country beginning July 16 are expected to be announced by government on Wednesday.
