To celebrate World Blood Donor Day on Monday, the Philippine Red Cross will conduct a blood donation drive in all of its 104 chapters nationwide.
Red Cross said donations will continue to replenish its blood supply, especially now that more are in need due to the ongoing pandemic.The agency said its focus in this year's #WBDD campaign"is the role of young people in ensuring a safe blood supply to encourage the youth for voluntary blood donation every three months and inspire others to do the same."
PRC Chairman and CEO Sen. Richard Gordon urged qualified donors to donate by getting in touch with the Red Cross chapter nearest them or any of the 98 blood service facilities, or contact the hotline 143 for urgent blood concerns. Red Cross gave assurances that it will observe strict health protocols during blood donation. It said that all technical staff is tested regularly to ensure the safety of blood donors.
"Blood is a true humanitarian gift that can only be given by one human being to another. Let us give blood and help save lives," it said in a statement.
