The DOH also stressed that mild symptoms should not be discounted. “Immediately isolate, get tested and stay in the isolation for 10 days. Notify your close contacts and ask them to quarantine for seven days if fully vaccinated and 14 days if not vaccinated,” DOH stressed. According to San Lazaro Hospital Adult Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine chief Dr. Rontgene Solante, the highly transmissible Delta variant may still be the “culprit” behind the current surge in COVID cases.

Meanwhile, the Philippine General Hospital reported a slight increase in the number of admissions due to COVID. The NTF adviser added that if there are those exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms such as cough or cold, it would be best to skip New Year’s celebrations.
