MANILA, Philippines – The culture of killing in the Philippines continues as another journalist died after he was gunned down on Monday night, October 3. Radio commentatorwas shot dead in Las Piñas, and the police have yet to identify his killer.
Mabasa was a staunch critic of former president Rodrigo Duterte and incumbent President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. His commentaries focused on issues about government officials, including red-tagging. Under the Marcos’ presidency, Mabasa was the second journalist to be killed after Rey Blanco in Negros Oriental in September.
