The Bureau of Fire Protection in Cebu City estimated the damage to property at millions since the mall was operating and many stalls and tenants were affected by the fire. “Gusto nako ma-safety ang inyong mga butang. Dili mahilabtan sa mga kiriwan. Pabantayan ko na, okay? Ayaw mo og kabalaka kay ato nang patabunan aron dili mabasa,” the mayor told APM mall tenants.
For now, the mayor wants the police to secure the area against looters, thieves, and other individuals who may want to take advantage of the situation.
Just to be in the news, of course. I'm sure it's the mall owner's responsibility to secure their premises from looters. The ersatz mayor doesn't need to make such orders.
