The low-pressure area (LPA) is expected to bring rains over parts of Visayas and Mindanao in the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Sunday afternoon.

In its 4 p.m. weather update, the state weather bureau said the LPA was last spotted 745 kilometers East of General Santos City.

PAGASA said the trough or extension of LPA will bring cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and at times heavy rains over Eastern and Central Visayas, Caraga, Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, and the provinces of Sorsogon and Masbate. The state-run weather bureau noted that the weather disturbance is less likely to develop into a tropical depression in the next three days.

Meanwhile, PAGASA noted that the northeast monsoon or “amihan” will continue to affect weather conditions in Northern Luzon. With this, Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Aurora may experience cloudy skies with light rains, while Ilocos Region and the rest of Central Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.
