FOR the first time since the start of the coronavirus disease pandemic, officials of the Quiapo Church in Manila has allowed the"pahalik" of the image of the Black Nazarene.
In a radio interview, Quiapo Church Parochial Vicar Fr. Douglas Badong said they have already allowed the"pahalik" for the first time since early 2020. "Devotees may once again touch the image of the Black Nazarene located above the main altar of the Quiapo Church," said Badong. The priest, though, strongly appealed to the public to continue adhering to the minimum public health standards. To recall, the Quiapo Church stopped the"pahalik" activities as soon as the Covid-19 pandemic began.
Even during the Traslacion 2021 and 2022, the"pahalik" tradition was replaced by the practice of"pagtanaw" .SunStar website welcomes friendly debate, but comments posted on this site do not necessarily reflect the views of the SunStar management and its affiliates.
