LUCENA CITY – Out of 41 municipalities in Quezon province, only 10 remain coronavirus -free after Mauban recorded its first confirmed virus carrier on Saturday, according to provincial authorities.

Aside from the first COVID-19 patient from Mauban, two other new cases were recorded in Guinayangan town, the Quezon Public Information Office said in its 8 a.m. report.Only the towns of General Nakar, Plaridel, San Francisco, San Narciso, Tagkawayan, San Andres and the island municipalities of Jomalig, Burdeos, Quezon and Panukulan remain COVID-19 free since the pandemic erupted in early March.

The town of Guinayangan logged a total of 18 cases with only one recovery. The town, located in the province’s fourth district, tops the list of municipalities in Quezon with the most active virus carriers at 17 patients, followed by Lucena City with seven.
