Quezon City is still under the low-risk case classification for Covid-19 despite recording an uptick in the number of new infections recently, the Department of Health (DOH) said.

Quezon City is still under the low-risk case classification for Covid-19 despite recording an uptick in the number of new infections recently, the Department of Health said. The DOH made the statement following a circulating photo showing that the city is under “yellow status.” It noted that such status is “a call for heightened monitoring to happen.”

“QC remains at low risk. IATF guidelines consider not only case increases, but also admission trends , and healthcare utilization to arrive at a risk assessment that allows for daily living to proceed, while being safe from the virus,” the DOH said. “A rise in case counts is monitored if it will mean more severe or critical admissions and less available beds,” it added.

The state health agency also reminded the public that “any change in Alert Level will depend on several factors.” This includes compliance to health protocols and coverage of vaccine primary series and boosters. “Prevent a rise in cases. Wear the best-fitted mask, isolate when sick, double-up protection through vaccination and boosters, and ensure good airflow,” the DOH said.
