Quarantined repatriates from Wuhan undergo health check ahead of New Clark City departure coronavirus

MANILA - Quarantined overseas Filipino workers from coronavirus disease ground zero Wuhan, China underwent a final temperature check before their expected departure from New Clark City in Tarlac, Saturday.

Some 32 OFWs and 17 members of the repatriation team were checked by the health department's medical staff ahead of their departure from the Athletes’ Village - where they stayed for 14 days for quarantine after arriving from Wuhan. Rooms used by the repatriates and the team will "immediately" be sanitized, as they will be used by Filipinos from the virus-stricken Diamond Princess Cruise ship docked in Yokohama, Japan, according to authorities.

The number of Filipinos infected with COVID-19 from the said cruise ship has risen to 52, according to authorities. Some 500 Filipinos from the cruise ship were supposed to be brought home Sunday, but health authorities deferred their return for further tests. -- report from Bianca Dava, ABS-CBN News
