The Quezon City Police District on Monday evening, July 25, filed charges for violation of Republic Act 10883, the “Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016,” RA 10591 or the “Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition,” and malicious mischief against the Dr. Chao Tiao Yumol, the gunamn behind the killing of former Lamitan Mayor Rosita “Rose” Furigay and two others during a graduation of law students at the Ateneo de Manila University on Sunday, July 24.
Furigay, her executive assistant Victor Capistrano, and ADMU security guard Jeneven Bandiala, were shot by Yumol during the Ateneo Law School graduation rites last Sunday.He merged with the crowd before firing shot towards the former mayor at the lobby of the Arete building.The security guard was also shot after he tried to prevent the suspect from escaping.
Police said Yumol and the Furigay family mere enmeshed in conflict, including 76 cyber libel cases filed against Yumol, prompting him to take justice into his own hands.
