Philippine Canoe Kayak Dragonboat Federation president Leonora Escollante, International Canoe Federation President Thomas Konietzko, Puerto Princesa City Mayor Lucilo Rodriguez Bayron, ICF official Uli Schreck and ICF Dragon Boat Commission Chair Dr. Wai-Hung Luk flash the thumbs up sign after the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding for the city’s hosting of the International Canoe Federation Dragon Boat World Championships.
“Hosting an event of this magnitude is an honor for Puerto Princesa. It presents us with a challenge that, once overcome, will pave the way for even greater endeavors in the future,” Mayor Bayron remarked. “The Philippines is proud to host this event, aiming not only for a competitive World Championships but also to provide participants with a rich cultural and natural experience,” said Konietzko.
Puerto Princesa, often dubbed “The City in a Forest,” is renowned for its awe-inspiring landscapes, encompassing a wealth of natural, cultural, and historical treasures. Dr. Luk expressed confidence in the city’s ability to deliver an exceptional championship experience.
