The Department of Education (DepEd) on Tuesday warned the public against individuals who use the name of the agency and its officials to ask for financial donations.

In a public advisory posted on its official Facebook page, DepEd said that it has “received reports regarding activities of some individuals” who are using the names of the agency, its Secretary Leonor Briones, and the members of the DepEd Executive Committee to ask for financial donations.

Reports on these individuals or any activity related to unauthorized seeking of financial donations may be reported to DepEd’s Public Assistance and Action Center via email to action@deped.gov.ph In November last year, DepEd also warned its teachers and school heads of online scams or malicious individuals that “commercialize” a resource package that is originally free of charge.
