Public transport to resume in 2 phases under general quarantine

MANILA -- More public transportation modes will be allowed in areas where pandemic restrictions will be downgraded to a general community quarantine or GCQ, the government said Friday.

Tricycles will be allowed subject to approval of local government units while provincial buses are still barred from entering Metro Manila, it said. "In the adoption of these guidelines in areas under GCQ, there will be two phases to be executed for allowing the operation of the different modes of public transportation," the DOTr said in an advisory.• Mandatory wearing of face masks• Availability of alcohols and sanitizers in PUVs• Contact tracingAutomatic fare collection, cashless payments and electronic toll collection, will be employed to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19, the DOTr said.

Take this opportunity to just eliminate jeepneys forever. Have the drivers become drivers for a city run bus routes with fixed stops only, pay them a hourly wage and stop the commission hunting. This is a great chance to fix a major problem

Yung phase out ng jeep na hindi nakuha sa santong dasalan, kinuha sa santong paspasan. Kahit mas mabilis magdisperse ang airdroplets kapag open air ang sasakyan (correct me if I'm wrong).

So lahat pde ng pumasok sa kanya kanyang trabaho pero wala nmn masasakyan edi wow karamihan jeep ang sinasakyan pagpumapasok sa trabaho... jusko po 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♂️

Kawawa naman yung ate ko na doctor at saka yung utol kong nurse. Sana payagan na ang pag biyahe ng mga jeepneys or yung angkas sa motorsiklo.

Logical. How can you be safe in a jeepney?

Hindi ba’t plano naman talaga nila i-phase out ang tradisyonal na jeepney para mapalitan ng mamahaling Public Utility Mini Bus na galing China? Paraparaan lang?

Sana magbago ang isip niya. Kawawa naman yung mga mamamayan. Bawal na nga ang angkas sa motorsiklo, tapos bawal pa rin ang jeepney? Paano namin susunduin at ihahatid ang mga kamaganak naming nurses at doctors. Doon pa rin ba sila sa dormitory mag stay? Unos pera.

Ang galing! Papasukin na mga employees na waang public transport? So anone? Lakad to the max na lang? Parang laging may alay-lakad sa metro manila? Abay kagaling ng mga officers natin na prenteng-prente sa mga sasakyan nila!

Hopefully the goverment can come up with ways by which these tradional jeepeneys can operate. Ilang buwan na sila wala kita.

Kung ipagbawal due to health reasons, DILG Sec. Eduardo Año and concerned agencies should propose an alternative plan for our jeepney drivers na mawawalan ng hanapbuhay this COVID crisis. Pagbawalan pero dapat parin tulungan.
