The Philippines Statistics Authority (PSA) on Thursday said it is eyeing to make downloadable the ePhilIDs -- the digital version of the national ID that is printed at registration centers -- in December this year.

“Maybe this December we can launch na ‘yung downloadable ePhilID,” Engr. Fred Sollesta, officer-in-charge at the PhilSys Registry Office, said during the public briefing.

“Para naman ito sa ating mga mamamayan na may mga access sa internet, may mga device na mag store talaga ng digital na version,” he added.“Kasi mag a-ano ‘yan, ‘yung process natin diyan ay magpapadala ‘yan ng one-time password using the number na binigay nila during step two registration,” he said.“Ito siya, ‘yung ePhilID natin, ay version 2 siya ng digital ID in printed form. So ito siya yung ating target for the end of the year December 2022 na makapag generate tayo ng 20 million,” he said.

“Pero ‘yung pre-generation natin ngayon ay nasa 11.15 million na and right on track sa ating target by the end of the year,” he added. Meanwhile, Sollesta said that 75.1 million Filipinos have registered for step two of the Philippine Identification System.Sollesta said individuals who wish to register may go to the appointment system of the PSA at psa.gov.ph
