Climate change is a massive problem. What can you do to help in your own way?Climate change conversations can be overwhelming. It’s a massive problem with widely destructive consequences, and it can seem as though there is nothing that can be done.

The panel includes Ateneo de Manila University President Father Jose Ramon Villarin, World Wildlife Fund Philippines president Joel Palma, National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council spokesperson Mark Timbal, International Organization of Migration Chief of Mission Kristin Dadey, United Nations goodwill ambassador for the environment Antoinette Taus, and Ayala Corporation head of group risk management and sustainability Maria Victoria Tan.

We’re a developing country. It’s us, the third world country, that takes the brunt of climate change. We’re just getting our stuff together as countries and yet, we’re already forced to pull it together when it comes to these disasters. Spreading awareness about that is actually important here in the Philippines … [Also], what is the accountability of big corporations when it comes to their contributions to climate change.

As a PR practitioner, I find ways to be able to practice sustainability in how my clients do things. On a personal level, it’s being mindful of the different Rs — reducing, reusing, recycling — whenever I can.It’s a continuous effort to make change or to do something better. Nakikita na natin ang mali.

I avoid using plastic bags. So I always have an eco-bag with me in my car, in the office, in my bag. So when I go shopping, I always ask nalang to put it in my bag. Kahit paper, iniiwasan ko na rin kasi trash din siya.
