The Philippine National Police (PNP) has begun transferring to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) files concerning the initial investigation conducted on the killing of Mayor David Navarro of Clarin, Misamis Occidental.

“I gathered this morning that there is already a partial turnover of some of the pieces of evidence from the PNP to NBI Cebu,” said NBI spokesman Deputy Director Ferdinand Lavin on Monday .

“Ayaw pa sabihin ng aming Cebu [office] out of respect dun sa kabilang law enforcement agency ,” he said.. Navarro was killed in Cebu City last October 25 during an ambush conducted by unidentified gunmen even though he was in a police convoy. President Rodrigo Duterte decided to have the NBI look into the incident as he expressed suspicion that policemen could be behind the killing.
