The entire Philippine National Police (PNP) is still free from the 2019 novel Corona Virus) Acute Respiratory Disease (2019-nCoV ARD) despite being in the frontline to help prevent the spread of the virus.

PNP Chief Gen. Archie Gamboa said they have been constantly monitoring the health condition of their men, especially those assisting the Department of Health in responding to the threat of the nCoV.

“We have not yet monitored any,” said Gamboa when asked if any policeman is reported to have been infected by the virus. PNP spokesman Brig. Gen. Bernard Banac said that no patient showing symptoms of nCoV was taken to police hospitals which are devoted to the medical needs of policemen and civilian employees, including their families.

Policemen were tapped for contact tracing of the passengers who boarded the same domestic flights as the two Chinese tourists who tested positive for nCoV. More than a hundred policemen assigned to the health services of the PNP were also placed on standby in case the DOH will need additional manpower in responding to the nCoV threat.
