Sixteen children in Taguig and Nueva Vizcaya were rescued by the Philippine National Police (PNP) after the Australian Federal Police (AFP) shared information about an Australian man's alleged intention to abuse them, the AFP said.

The border officials notified the Australian police, which began investigating the 56-year-old and then charged him with three offenses, including possessing child abuse material obtained or accessed using a carriage service; and grooming a person to make it easier to engage in sexual activity with a child outside of Australia.
