Citing intelligence reports and background investigation, Philippine National Police chief Gen. Benjamin Acorda, Jr. said Hernandez is the group's leader and is leading some illegal opertions in Batangas, Quezon, Metro Manila and some parts of Central Luzon.
Acorda said the Hernandez Group has been implicated in numerous killings in Batangas and Quezon provinces. Their area of operation extended across Region 4A, NCR and Region 3. He said the operation was conducted in Barangay Sto Rosario in Aliaga where the vehicle that the suspects were riding was flagged down on Sunday, June 25.
Myra Hernandez and Liezel Awing, according to the police report, were apprehended with a caliber 45 pistol, magazines, a small heat transparent plastic sachet containing a crystalline substance suspected to be shabu , and ammunition.
