'If PLDT will be the sole telco in the country today, our rankings would be 15 places higher,' says PLDT CEO Manny Pangilinan.

blamed the telco giant's competitors for"pulling down" the Philippines' rank in internet speed performance.

"We'd be much better. I think our numbers are being pulled down by competitors," Pangilinan said on Thursday, May 6. Smart's mobile internet speed, meanwhile, was at 31.42 Mbps against the Philippine average of 25.43 Mbps.

Ambisyosa

If they were doing a good job in the internet game, there wouldn't be any need for competitors. Note that we do use PLDT for home internet but not Smart for mobile internet. Still see the need for competitors that can offer better.

PLDT walang puso. Madelay ka lang putol agad. Tapos kahit wala kang internet ng isang buwan at kasalanan naman nila babayaran mo pa rin.

Omg sainyo pa galing

The fact that he has to say it says a lot as to exactly why pldt and the PH TeleCom industry are sabotaging our country's efforts to overcome the pandemic and the economy in general.

Hinde po ito totoo. There is no growth in monopoly.

You can always fool the people but you cannot fool the people all the time.

Then we are in the last! how you will accommodate additional subscribers from Globe where they have 50% market share while your network can only support your existing clients.

Pldt has terrible customer service, lol.

That's not how monopolies work. While the economic model isn't exact, there's plenty of empirical evidence to support that. Competition is -and will remain- one of the greatest drivers of innovation and efficiency. Doesn't anyone check MVP's statements pre-publication?

Hello, nung 1980's diba sila lang din? Ilang taon bago makabitan ng landline? Competition is supposed to encourage better service, better price for the consumers. Monopoly? Not giving people a choice is never a good idea.

Ah yes, every capitalist's dream of monopolizing their industry.

Effing liar.

If you provided better services, you would’ve ranked higher.

Tumigil ka nga Manny Pang, tama lang desisyon kong lumipat sa Sky Fiber at DAPAT lang na may kacompetensya kau. Pasalamat na lang kung umabot ng 10mbps ung internet ko nung nasa PLDT pa ako

I highly doubt. What have we learned from the monopoly in the 80s?

whyyyy does rappler keep posting this?

Not necessarily true. You're supposed to bring your A game in a competition if you are to win or at least survive. If monopoly, magiging complacent lang kayo.

It's a prank

i agree with Manny here Philippines would be 15 places higher kasi 15 people lang ang magkakaroon ng matinong internet dyan sa Pinas 🤣🤣🤣

What a load of shit

ano naman kinalaman

HaHaHaHaHa

Eeew PLDT_Cares paki sabi kay Manny Pangilinan wag syang ilusyonada.

'Di rin. Bulok kaya serbisyo niyo. Ang laki ng binabayaran ko dati tapos araw-araw walang internet tuwing umaga.

Monopoly is equal to communism.

Doesn’t make sense…

I highly doubt. What have we learned from the monopoly in the 80s?

thoughts? sabbyy___
