Experiencing some troubles accessing Google, Facebook, or YouTube since this afternoon? | via philstarlife

If you have not been able to access Google, Facebook, or YouTube since this afternoon, the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company would like to assure you that it's not a just a"you" problem.

On the afternoon of June 5, several local internet users took to Twitter to report that they couldn't access Google Suite services, YouTube, and Facebook from their location. The problem is only encountered by those who have PLDT as their internet service provider , with the company's name climbing the second spot on the top trending topics on Twitter Philippines in the evening.

To address the woes and foes of its internet subscribers, the telecommunication company released a statement at 6:39 p.m. on social media, confirming that the problem is in its cable partner that is experiencing losses in its bandwidth capacity. “One of our submarine cable partners confirms a loss in some of its internet bandwidth capacity, and thus causing slower internet browsing,” PLDT wrote in a social media post. , bandwidth refers to the capacity or speed at which a network can transmit data. It is measured by ISPs in meganbits per second or Mbps.“We are now working with our partners to provide alternate capacity that would restore the browsing experience in the next few hours,” it added.

The telco giant has not specified the reason why Google Suite and Facebook are the only websites affected by the outage.
