According to PHIVOLCS, a total of 29 volcanic earthquakes have been recorded since 5 a.m. on Thursday, October 6.
“Weak to moderate emission of white steam-laden plumes could be observed at the crater while very weak emission of the white-steam laden plumes could be observed at northwest vents. The increased seismic activity and short-term ground deformation are likely caused by shallow hydrothermal processes beneath the edifice,” it said in itsWhile the Bulusan Volcano remains at Alert Level 0 , PHIVOLCS said it “is subject to change should current activity persist.
The agency advised the public and the involved local government units to continue prohibiting entry into the volcano's four-kilometer-radius Permanent Danger Zone . Civil aviation authorities were also told to advise pilots to avoid flying close to the volcano’s summit as ash from any sudden phreatic eruption can be hazardous to aircraft.
Affected residents within the valleys and along river/stream channels, especially in the southeast, southwest, and northwest sectors of the volcano’s edifice, were asked to remain vigilant against sediment-laden stream flows and lahars in the event of heavy and prolonged rainfall. —
